Shopping online for clothes, electronics, books and video games has become the norm for many consumers. But, it’s the everyday household necessities such as toothpaste, laundry detergent and coffee filters that still have us driving to the store. Therefore, we were intrigued when we recently came across Alice.com to find an entire online business dedicated to selling household products online.
Based in Middleton, Wis., Alice.com sells household products directly from the manufacturer to the consumer. By cutting out the middleman, the products are significantly cheaper. To see for ourselves, we did a price comparison on Crest 3D White toothpaste between Alice.com and a Milwaukee-area Walgreens. Alice.com lists the toothpaste for $2.99, while Walgreens is selling the same thing for $4.49. Combined with Alice.com’s free shipping, it looks like a pretty good deal to us.
We do have a small hesitation though. Some consumers, me included, usually wait until they are completely out of toothpaste to go to the store. So for those consumers, buying online and waiting a couple days for the purchases to ship may not be the best option. For those who like to stock up ahead of time, this could be a good site for you.
