The power of our mobile devices can reach far beyond streaming Netflix and updating our Facebook statuses, it can actually save a child’s life. To acknowledge National AMBER Alert Day tomorrow, US Cellular is encouraging its customers to sign up for free AMBER Alert text messaging.
The AMBER Alert system, otherwise known as the child abduction bulletin and originally named in honor of Amber Hagerman, a 9-year-old child who was abducted and murdered in Arlington, Texas, has been used since 1996 to alert communities of child abductions in respective areas. By signing up for free AMBER Alerts through US Cellular, mobile users will be notified via SMS and possibly save a child’s life.
Since the exponential growth of mobile devices and social media, it’s incredibly important we use these resources when it comes to community safety, especially in the case of child abductions. It’s great to see US Cellular offer this free service to its customers.
To sign up for free AMBER Alert text messages, be sure to stop in a US Cellular store tomorrow.
