Some mobile users who picked up the Nokia Lumia only to find that it wouldn’t connect to the Internet will be getting a sweet peace offering from Nokia.
The manufacturer announced yesterday the problem stemmed from a memory issue with the mobile’s software and has already fixed the problem. Defective Luminas can be swapped for newer ones or updated software can be downloaded starting April 16.
Along with updated software, Nokia is offering $100 credit to any Nokia Lumina purchase between April 8 and April 21. Given the device is currently $99 with a two-year contract; customers will be getting a high-end smartphone essentially for free.
While I haven’t seen the Nokia Lumina up close and personal yet, I can’t imagine there is a deal out there that could match this one. If you’re in the market for a new smartphone, stopping into an AT&T store and checking out the Nokia Lumina might be worth it.
